IT'S FOOTBALL TIME IN OKLAHOMA!!!

enough said.

noah's ark

so, as i am sure many of you have heard, torrential rainfall in oklahoma has been occurring.  we are currently enjoying a respite from this monsoon-like weather, but when i was in bartlesville (the shady b, if you will) last week i was part of an evacuation effort in the birkett household.  you see, mary thought the house was going to flood despite the engineering predictions of my father.  lucky for us, my father was right, but all of the downstairs went to the upstairs anyway.  the street outside our house did flood....here is a little pic.

many bartians were not this lucky, and there houses did flood.  :o(

additionally, i went to my precious little's debutante party.  it was quite an adventure, to say the least.  i did get a sweet dress for it though...i hope some hott frat boy (HA) asks me to a bid day date party so i can wear it.  spread the word, people.

that's all for now, folks.

pan forms and a glass of blush wine await me tonight...so romantic, i know.

since i last posted several monumental (kind of) events have occurred in my life

1)  i moved into my first apartment.  granted it is just for the summer, and it is the tri delt rush apartment, but it is my first apartment nonetheless.  and who will have the ability to say that in their first apartment they had a copy machine and a dinosaur of a desktop computer in their living room?  i am going to go with very few. (annie, i think you would be excited to know we live in apt #1111.  that has to be a good omen, right?)

i am enjoying living with natalie and arleigh.  annie moves in tomorrow, though, and i am so so SOexcited to see her.  i have gone out a couple times with nat and ar, and although i enjoy it for the most part, i'm not sure how much more often it will happen this summer.

2)  i have officially turned into harold's my "my last day will be july 20, 2007" letter.  mixed emotions about this.  i looove the people i work with and i love my customers, but the work is tedious and sometimes dull.  also, the end of harold's means that work week and rush will soon be starting, and then i will be starting nursing school, which are probly gonna be the two largest highlights of 2007 for me!

3)  i turned 20.  such a dull and pathetic age.  i have now been alive for two decades, but i still can't drink.  however, the night before my birthday i went to dinner with three of my faves (i missed all you far away ones, tho!) and then on my real birthday my mom and dad came down and met my sister and i for dinner at mickey mantle's.  my dad got me some SUPER SUPER cute boots that i am really excited about and a pretty ring.  those are the highlights of the gifts.

and i assure all you deltas out there, tri delt rush is in full swing, and all of us here at 1111 promise not to disappoint.  dorkily, i get more and more excited everyday...i'm like a kid at christmas whenever we get in a new rec.  embarassing, i know.

well, that's all for now.  if more exciting things begin to happen, i'll post more often.  haha.

the beginning of....

in a last ditch effort to keep in contact with all of my friends who have decided to up and LEAVE me for the summer, off to such fabulous destinations as nyc, la, and austin to name a few, i am re-posting in the xanga.

the following have occurred since my return home.

1)     i arrived saturday mid-afternoon and was surprised by my parents with a new jeep commander.  good bye black death jr.  hello, well he still needs a name, so any suggestions are welcome.  i was thinking johnny cash, but i know there is something better.  here i am on mother's day with my new beast.100_0451

2)     i enjoyed an excellent mother's day with my wonderful 4'10" mother.  i played my cello at church that morning, and had an excellent encounter with the 24 year old.  for details, facebook me.  we ate lunch at a delicious bed and breakfast 20 minutes outside bartlesville, and that was nice as well.  here are my mother and i on mother's day in front of our humble abode.

3)     i watched several movies.  i highly reccomend freedom writers.  next on my movie list is hillary and jackie, a movie about my once idol, jacqueline du pre.  she is this amazing french cellist who had multiple sclerosis, and when this movie originally came out, momma and poppa birkett went to see it at the theatre and deemed it inappropriate for young anne.  so now, after all these years, i will be watching this movie.  i checked it out from the bartlesville public library.  dork, i know.

4)     i have set a new goal for myself.  it is to re-read all six harry potter books before the final one makes its debut on july 20.  (don't worry, i have a reserved copy at the bookstore in norman)  so far, in addition to reading acceptance, a very good novel about the college application process, i have also managed to finish harry potter and the sorcerer's stone (book 1) and harry potter and the chamber of secrets (book 2).  i started the third this morning, and i would like to have it finished by tuesday.

5)     rachel uraneck is coming to visit me today!!!  i expect her at any moment, and i am so EXCITED!

that is all for now.  love y'all!!!

old town new

during my brief time in bartlesville this weekend, tim mcgraw's 'old town new' seemed to be my theme song.  my  mom always told me that i would outgrow bartlesville, and between my stints in the shady b for spring break and easter, i think she is right.  it was great while it lasted and i know i will always hold some weird emotional attachment for that small burg, but let's be honest here.  i have sucked all the marrow out of that town.  i've used it and abused it, and i'm on to bigger and better things.

on a similar note,  my new life theme song is sugarland's 'settlin'.  let me give you a brief view of the chorus.

'i ain't settlin', for just gettin' by

i've had enough so-so, for the rest of my life

i'm tired of shootin' to low, so raise the bar high

i ain't settlin', for anything less than everything'
